Boating in the Idukki Dam reservoir

The Idukki Hydroelectric project is one of the most successful and the biggest of its kind in Kerala. The Idukki arch dam is one among the very few of its kind in the world.

With ticket cost of 200 INR, you can experience a boating in Idukki dam reservoir which will bring you as close as you can get to the point where the nature has changed for this man made wonder.

The boating starts from the Eco tourism office of the forest department .  In the next one hour, you will see the vastness of the Idukki and Cheruthoni dams and its reservoir, the forest areas, meadows and small lakes.

The ride ends at the starting point which also holds the memorial of Adivasi Mooppan Kolumban, who identified the exact place for the Idukki dam and Cheruthoni dam .

You can also visit the Garden of Rare species and Butterfly research center managed by the Forest Department itself along with this ride. Also, the department will provide a pavilion having information about the wild animals in the area.

The best part is that, boating and other related activities will be made throughout the year on all days even if the Idukki dam is not opened for visitors. So whenever you are planning for a trip to Idukki, never forget to experience this wonderful delight.

Jungle Safari to Rosemala

Loccated in the Shenduruney forest of Aryankavu, Kollam District, Rosemala is called as the valley that unfolds like the unfurling petals of a rose.

Similar to that in Gavi, thanks to the Shenduruney forest officials, the new initiative has opened the doors of this wonderful experience for people who do not have the luxury of own vehicle.

Unlike the Gavi tour, the Rosemala Jungle Safari Package is easily affordable for all. The service will start at 9 AM from Thenmala directly to Rosemala which is located around 15 KM from Aryankaavu.

After a visit to the village, a traditional lunch will be provided. The forest watchtower in Rosemala gives you the magnificent view of the Thenmala dam.

The trip will end at 5 PM in Thenmala, which is another eco tourism spot pretty famous for its adventure park and the trekking options available.

The ticket charges is 800 INR for age 12 and above and 500 INR for age below 12. The ticket includes the lunch at Rosemala village and a light refreshment. This is a very competitive and convenient pricing for a one day trip.
