Cheru chakki Chola at Chittanda

How many of you have heard of this rare name “Cheruchakki Chola”? May be this is the first time you are hearing this place. Cheruchakki Chola is also known as Cheruchakki waterfalls. Cheruchakki Chola is in Chittanda village of Thrissur district and the place is famous for Karthyayani temple. The temple is one among the 108 Durga temples consecrated by lord Parashurama, the mythical founder of Kerala. Cheruchakki Chola is not that commercialized like other waterfalls and can’t consider it as a big waterfall as such, however it can offer a calm and quite atmosphere which a traveler is looking for. Bharathappuzha (River Nila, Second longest river in Kerala) is the main contributor of the waterfalls. Kerala forest department is having a pulp wood plantation here in Chittanda and ANERT, A Government of Kerala organization for renewable energy projects had considered Cheruchakki Chola as a potential place for small hydro projects. Konni ecotourism offering coracle rafting in Kerala

The famous water ride in Hogganackal is an unforgettable experience. The uniqueness of it is the boat itself. Unlike the traditional shapes, the Hogganackal boating is through coracles which is round in shape. Now the same boating has reached God’s Own Country. The Konni ecotourism centre, Pathanamthitta has bought the new coracle rides (bowl boats) in the Kallar river. In the shallow parts of the river, the tourists are also allowed to steer the boat, unlike the Hogganackal ride which is considered fairly dangerous. There will be a trained operator for each coracle. The vadakke mannira forest conservation society has introduced Kappa, fish curry, tea and coffee which will be served during weekends. Adavi Konni Route Adavi is the place from which the coracle ride begins. Adavi Konni route is approximately 16KM in the banks of Kallar river.
