Kochi Metro to fly high soon

With the wings designed by the Metro man, Mr E Sreedharan,  Kochi Metro has completed its first successful test run outside its railway yards. The run was for 4 KMs from the Muttam metro yard to Kalamassery.

Kochi metro rail, once it becomes fully operational will definitely change the status of the most growing city of Kerala, Kochi. The city has experienced a large growth in its industrial sector in the past decades which had given rise to the similar growth in the number traffic blocks.

The Metro Rail has already proved to be one of the most efficient and fast mode of transportation in various Indian cities. In Kochi , the first phase which is nearing completion, is between one of the most busiest routes- Palarivattom to Alwaye (Aluva) . It will be extended soon till Maharaja’s ground as part of the first phase itself.  This is definitely going to create a positive impact on the city’s development in both industrial and tourism sector as well.

The first test run of the Rs 5,180 crore Kochi Metro rail project on track, covered the 4 KM distance and back at a speed 5 KM/hr. The test run took around 40 minutes to complete.

The project was flagged off by the Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on January 23 at Muttam yard. He had then said that the project could enter into record books by becoming the fastest completed Metro rail project. Mr E Sreedharan has confirmed that the service will start on November 1st of this year.
