Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

Elevator that can take you to the top of a mountain in 2 mins

How about going up 325 metres in less than 2 minutes, without burning a single calorie? And that too to the top of a mountain in the middle of a deep Jungle. Well China’s Zhangjiajie National Forest Park offers you this with the world’s longest outdoor elevator. This enormous Glass elevator is called as Bailong Elevator (meaning Hundred Dragon elevator for its height). It is placed in the Wulingyan scenic area if the Zhangjiajie forest park. The elevator can hold 50 people at a time. Although China, known for its fast development, started the construction in 1999 and completed it within 3 years, by 2002, several safety concerns environmental criticisms were made. Finally after 10 months of it completion, the elevator started its operations in 2003. The Bailong Elevator has been recognized by the Guinness World of Records as the Highest Outdoor Lift on 16 July 2015. The Wulingyan forest has been recognized as a World Heritage Site.
